Concrete details on new PS3 download service
Sony boss Jack Tretton confirms movie downloads through PlayStation Store coming
In addition to confirming a $100 price cut for PS3 and launch details for the 80 GB version of the console in North America, Sony has offered concrete details on a new download service heading to PlayStation Store.
Previouslyheavily hinted by the company, the ability to download movies and other entertainment on PS3 is definitely in the pipeline.
"We're excited to be launching a new download service that will give consumers the opportunity to take advantage of video, movie and other entertainment content available through the PlayStation Store," SCEA president and CEO Jack Tretton has said during an announcement on theUS price cut.

“It's amazing how far it's come in very, very short order. For the first time you've got something that appeals to all consumers, young and old, male and female, whether they're hardcore gamers, casual gamers or not even interested in gaming at all," he added.
Presumably, Sony will announce further details on the service at E3 this week.
Microsoft has already introduced aTV and movie download service for Xbox 360. Through Xbox Live Marketplace, 360 owners can download standard and high-definition shows and films.
