Creepiest person in Wonder Woman trailer confirmed as villain
We're under a year away from Wonder Woman hitting screens and there's a fair amount of details we still don't know. Like, for example, who will go up against Diana Prince as the film's baddie? There's a veritable crop of villains from Wonder Woman's comic book back catalogue to choose from, which makes the wait for an official confirmation all the more exciting.
While we've yet to learn the identity of the big bad, at least now we know who is playing one of the supporting rogues: Elena Anaya. You may know her as the scary-looking lady from the trailer. Remember? She's at that high society event, wearing a mask and looking like she's just spiked the punch with battery acid.
According to Batman News (and its army of loyal fan translators), Anaya will be on hand to cause a bit of a stir. “Well, it was a small role in this big ensemble, but it is an important character in the story," she says. "It’s directed by Patty Jenkins, then there’s Gal Gadot as our main lead, Chris Pine as her co-lead and I’m going to be… a big nightmare for the two of them."
Right, so not a major evildoer, but still packing enough evil intent to really make things difficult for Wonder Woman. Colour me intrigued. As I said above, there's a lot of baddies perfect for the live-action treatment, but I think we may have to wait for trailer number 2 until we learn who they are...
Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Lucy Davis, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, and Saïd Taghmaoui, Wonder Woman will open in cinemas on June 23, 2017.
