If ever you needed proof that making movies is hard, look no further than the ongoing attempt to remake The Crow. The project has been stuck in development hell for what feels like forever, but now there may finally be some light at the end of the tunnel.
The Wrap is reporting that Relativity Media is setting up the film as its first production post-bankruptcy, with shooting set to begin in March 2016. Furthermore, Corin Hardy will be staying on as director of the film, and has signed a holding deal with Relativity.
While this is hopeful news, there is currently no actor in place for the lead role of Eric Draven. That honour was at one point given to Luke Evans and Jack Huston, while Tom Hiddleston, James McAvoy, Mark Wahlberg and Bradley Cooper have all been rumoured to potentially play the undead vigilante.
Now that Relativity's financial problems are behind them, Hardy & co can bring James O'Barr's 1989 comic book series to life once again. Alex Proyas' 1994 movie inspired a cult following, and with the remake likely to be one of the few comic book movies in this era that will be standalone as opposed to being part of a wider universe, here's hoping that it comes to pass. A UK release date for The Crow has yet to be confirmed.
