Culture of Hate
Be it consoles, games, or the industry as a whole, gamers love to hate their favorite pastime - why?
What's so great about gaming that we're willing to put up with all this hate? Gamers hate because they love. We hate to see our cherished pastime destroyed by greed and banality. Sometimes profitability coincides with the making of a great game, but the industry excretes more than its fair share of formulaic shovelware. The sad part is that someone out there is buying it, or else they would have stopped producing it 20 years ago. Gaming is a complicated and expensive hobby that lends itself, by its very nature, to the vehement expression of opinions. The internet has simply moved the playground arguments online where the whole world can see them and participate. This is where we encounter the inevitable dilrods who we're forced to put up with because the gaming audience is so huge. Games should be about having fun, but this vocal minority gets off on antagonizing others. To these haters we raise the one-finger salute and say, "Not on our watch!"
Stay tuned to GamesRadar all week as we deconstruct the many reasons why gamers are the most critical of all hobbyists.
