What options are there for the Heist and can you prevent Jackie's death?

Can you save Jackie in Cyberpunk 2077? Unfortunately, no. His death is a crucial - and pivotal - part of the story during The Heist mission and while it may feel like something that can be prevented if you know exactly what to do, this isn't the case.
However, there are options around what to do when Jackie has passed, and we'll cover them in greater detail below, along with more information about what to expect when you reach Jackie's death in Cyberpunk 2077.

Can you save Jackie in Cyberpunk 2077?
The Heist is a prologue mission and sees V and Jackie breaking into a location to steal a mysterious object. It's essentially the event that sets up the whole game, and completing it brings up the main title and 'starts' the story proper. That could actually be several hours in to the game if you've been exploring Night City in what can be a very extensive prologue.
Most of the job goes smoothly but towards the end Jackie catches a bullet and while he helps you fight your way to freedom, things don't look good. Eventually you'll reach the car you started the mission in and while both of you get away, Jackie dies.
As we explained, the short and easy answer to whether you can save Jackie in Cyberpunk 2077 is no. Jackie's fate is hardwired into the story and several key events that follow so there's nothing you can do about it. While there are what appear to be choices in how you play the mission, or the decisions and dialogue you pick, the outcome of Jackie's fate is fixed.
If you send Jackie's body to Victor that will more or less be the end of it. However, if you send his body home a lot of later events will build on this tragic event, and it becomes a vital part of the early plot.
So, as much as we hate to say it, Jackie is gone and there's no combination of events or choices that will ever change that.
