Daniel Radcliffe, fresh from revitalising British horror at the box office with The Woman In Black , has agreed to star in another adaptation of a supernatural-themed novel, Horns .
The book, written by Joe Hill (AKA Stephen King Jr), tells the story of Ig Perrish (the Radcliffe role), a man suspected of raping and murdering his girlfriend. After a heavy night's drinking, Perrish wakes up to find he has horns growing out of his head.
As these facial appendages can convince people to fess up to their sins and give in to their desires, they're a handy tool for seeking out his girlfriend's killer.
As that short synopsis attests, this is another forceful step away from the kid-friendly Harry Potter with which Radcliffe made his name. With Alexandre Aja ( Switchblade Romance ) at the helm, don't expect this to be stingy with the violence.
Radcliffe did a good job of 'menaced' in The Woman In Black , but can he be menacing? This'll be quite a test for him, but if he's brave it enough to take it on, we'll be more than willing to check it out.
He'll next be seen as Beat poet Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings , and he's been linked to Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio animation.
With Horns shooting in the autumn, we're expecting this to be released at some point in 2013. Until then, Radcliffe should steel himself for an unstoppable onslaught of 'horny' puns…
