Dark Souls 3 boss guide - how to defeat every top tier enemy

Ancient Wyvern (Optional)

This place is called Archdragon Peak, so you’re expecting to fight a dragon or two (or a wyvern, they’re almost the same thing, but whatever). The Ancient Wyvern is exactly that, but this fight is more of a puzzle than a true boss battle.

The Ancient Wyven has a few attacks, all of which deal very high damage. It can stomp its feet, swipe it’s tail, bite, and of course breathe fire. Your only real option is to attack its feet, doing barely any damage. But here’s the good news: that’s not how this fight is intended to work.

Instead, run past the Wyvern and follow the path to the left. Continue along this path as it leads high above the gate you entered through. Eventually, you’ll reach a series of wooden platforms you can use to drop to the broken arch by the Wyvern’s resting place. Make your way here, then leap off the arch with a plunging attack to the Wyvern’s head – you’ll deliver a one-hit kill. Fair warning: you’ll have to deal with a good number of those weird long-necked enemies and the Wyvern’s fireballs on the way up, but that’s the only challenge.

The Ancient Wyvern is terrifying, and it hits as hard as you expect. Fortunately, you can pull a fast one on this beast and end the fight with little effort.
