Come October 25, it'll be time to light the bonfires again and experience the first Dark Souls 3 DLC, Ashes of Ariandel. I feel sorry for all the people who just beat the game, or anyone who struggled through FromSoftware's brutal fantasy world and felt an immense sense of relief upon completion, thinking to themselves, "Well at least that game is now behind me".
According to Hachima (via Siliconera), Ashes of Ariandel will add new weapons and magic, including a flaming greatsword, a hailstorm summoning spell, and a chakram-like weapon made of light. There will also be a new PvP-exclusive arena called "Immortal Competition," which may or may not be the only new area added to the game.
A new trailer showing off the DLC should be dropping soon - in fact, the PlayStation Twitter account seems to have hit the publish button early, with a since-deleted tweet linking to a trailer that's private on YouTube.
Again, I'm sorry if you were relieved at being done with Dark Souls 3. Just when you thought you were out, they pull you back in! And devour your soul. Such is life in Lothric.
