If you love the world of Dark Souls but you're not so much a fan of repeatedly dying to its inhabitants, an upcoming Dark Souls comic series published by Titan Comics might be the proverbial campfire you're looking for. Penned by George Mann (Doctor Who: The Eighth Doctor) and illustrated by Alan Quah (Godzilla: Awakening), issue #1 will hit shelves on April 6 - just ahead of Dark Souls 3's worldwide release date of April 12. The alternate cover art you see above is by Joshua Cassara.
"Dark Souls has a rich, original universe that’s just begging to be explored in comics, and I’m honoured to have the opportunity to delve in and tell some new stories within it," said Mann in a related press release. "I’ve been a fan of the games for some time, so it’s a real thrill to be able to contribute to the mythology of the Hollows and their world."
We'll have to wait and see if Mann and Quah's take on From Software's dying fantasy world lives up to the games, but I gotta admit that I'm intrigued by the idea of reading lore that's a bit more coherent than whatever I would piece together from item descriptions.
