Darren Aronofsky could direct Human Nature next
George Clooney attached to star
Darren Aronofsky may not be making The Wolverine , but he could have found his next project in sci-fi Human Nature .
A spec script by Jeff Welch that’s been hovering around Hollywood for 15 years, Nature follows a man who wakes up after being cryogenically frozen and discovers that humans are now the pets of another species.
Which is one heck of a concept that could be played out for laughs and horror in equal measure. (Expect PETA to get behind this one.)
George Clooney is interested in starring, while producer Akiva Goldsman is footing the bill.
Despite Nature having a cracking central conceit, you can bet that many Hollywood directors would make a right mess of bringing it to the big screen.
Aronofsky, though, isn’t just any Hollywood director – he’s sure to wrap Nature ’s sci-fi elements in social commentary and thoughtful posturing. Bring it on.
