DC Universe Online gets Flash DLC and EverQuest II goes free-to-play December 6

The big retail releases of 2011 may be done, but it looks like MMOs are just getting warmed up. The Old Republic is on the horizon, a new WoW patch just went live, and Sony Online Entertainment has two big updates planned. On December 6 DC Universe is getting its Lighting Strikes update and EverQuest II goes free-to-play.

The DCUO update is the second big one of its kind and features The Flash, The Fastest Man Alive. It’s the second big DLC pack for the game and it also adds the eighth power set to the game: lightning. You can read all the details on the Speed Force-infused update here.

Meanwhile, SOE’s iconic sequel is becoming free-to-play the same day. The EverQuest II change includes the Freeport Reborn update and will implement the game's eighth overall expansion Age of Discovery. We got the scoop on it in this special report. Maybe nothing worthwhile will be hit GameStop next Tuesday, at least you’ll have something new to install on your PCs.
