De Niro leaves Edge Of Darkness
Creative differences to blame
Whoops. Looks like not everything is perfect over on the set of Martin Campbell’s Edge Of Darkness: Robert De Niro has left the film after just one day’s work.
Citing that good old PR standby “creative differences” a spokesman for the actor told Variety that things simply didn’t work out between the actor and his director. Fortunately, they’ve caught the problem in the first week and Campbell has time to recast the role, shooting around the performance as he does.
If he’d stayed, De Niro would have played an operative sent in to clear the evidence in the murder of a detective (Mel Gibson)’s daughter, which is tied to a corporate / governmental conspiracy. Looks like the film will have its own mystery to properly explain: the mystery of the missing Bob.
