Deep Silver appears is gearing up to make announcements about the future of the Dead Island series. Having just revealed PC multiplayer online battle arena game Dead Island: Epidemic, which is due to be detailed at Gamescom later this month, Deep Silver creative director Guido Eickmeyer fielded questions about the series in a Reddit Q&A.
Asked if Dead Island 3 will be made, he said: “I would not expect the series to stop at this point :)” And pressed on whether a third instalment is on the horizon, or if any new Dead Island Riptide DLC is on the way, Eickmeyer said: “For now, I can only ask you to wait a bit further, then some really nice things will be revealed about the future of dead island :)”
The original Dead Island released in September 2011 and its sequel, Dead Island: Riptide, launched in April 2013. Both games were developed by Polish studio Techland, which is currently working on two major projects, Hellraid for current-gen consoles and PC, and first-person action survival horror game Dying Light, which is due for release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2014.
