Dead Island Riptide out April 23 in N. America, April 26 in Europe
Worst vacation EVER is far from over for the first game's survivors
Dead Island Riptide will pull zombie slayers to the deep end on April 23, 2013 in North America and April 26 in Europe, Deep Silver announced today. The sequel to 2011's first-person undead apocalypse RPG will hit PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 next year.
Riptide will take place on another island of the archipelago depicted in Dead Island, with the first game's cast of characters plus a new survivor battling against the ungrateful dead. Pre-orders for the game (which are available now) will receive a Special Edition copy on release, including exclusive weapon mods, a digital map, and a unique character skin.
The first game met a mostly positive, but reserved critical reception (angering some for not skewing very close to its famed reverse-time CGI trailer), and while we know little about Riptide other than some new multiplayer features and a hub defense element, we're certainly hoping for the best.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
