Dead Space 3 video introduces weapon crafting system

Following up on their awesome Dead Space 3 trailer from Gamescom 2012, EA has released a new DS3 video featurette which spotlights the game's weapon crafting system which allows you to assemble your weapons piece by piece, customizing every bit of it.

We're actually pretty excited about this as we've got a hunch this will add a nice extra layer of personality to the alien-slaying. It's a wonderful notion to try to give the player the same feeling of satisfaction that Isaac might be feeling when he destroys necromorphs with his own machinations.

This can't be the end of the innovation though. For Dead Space 4 we're going to petition EA to include the weapon creation system from the Sega Genesis version of Home Alone which allowed you to craft weapons from scratch based on whatever crude materials you found around the house. Our favorite was the snowball thrower. EA declined to comment on whether Dead Space 3 will include a craftable snowball thrower. But we've got our fingers crossed.
