Dead Space unlockables
Backstory Logs: These are the few logs that give some more background on the game. These are the extra 6 logs you get for Chapter 12 after beating the game and starting a new game on that same file.
Impossible Difficulty: This says it all, the hardest difficulty available. You get this after beating the game on any difficulty.
Military Suit: This is the Level 6 Suit Upgrade, you get this after beating the game once on any difficulty. It will be in your inventory when you reload that game to play again, it will be in your inventory as a schematic.
New Game+: You get this when you beat the game, it will ask if you want to save. When you reload your game you will start with all your same stuff, plus the backstory logs, the level 6 suit schematic and some extra power nodes and credits. It does not allow you to change the difficulty though.
Dead Space tips
New Game Plus
Beat the game, save and load your cleared save data. You'll start on the same difficulty, but have all your upgraded equipment, extra nodes and credits and plans for the Military Suit (a level six armor).
To Kill The Leviathan
First, take out the tentacles. Then when the center opens aim for the orange ball. Grab the explosive canisters, and launch them in the center, or grab the lathan pod and launch it into the center.
Help With The Hunter
Ok, so we all hate the hunter. If you don't know, he is a regenerating necromorph that cannot be killed. The first time you encounter him is tough, and you just have to run. I found that it is best to shoot of his legs because he doesn't regenerate them immediately and he is much slower without legs. Then you freeze him and he gets taken away. He comes back in a later act, so use the same strategy and then fry him with the Rocket engines. That will be the end of him.
Don't forget the Power Node the Hunter drops.
Dead Space Easter eggs
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Chapter 10
When you begin Chapter 10, walk into the room with the dead Unitologists in it. If you listen carefully, you can hear Twinkle Twinkle Little Star from one of the game trailers. You can also hear it in an elevator on Chapter 6.
Secret Message (SPOILER)
The first letter in each 12 chapter titles spells out a hidden disturbing message. That message is "Nicole is Dead."
