Okay, what's this got to do with science fiction? Nothing, that's what. But Metal Hammer is SFX's sister magazine, and we know that a lot of our readers like to ROCK from time to time, so we thought we'd update you on this snippet of news.
The Metal Hammer people, in association with Live Nation and the Agency, has announced the inaugural Defenders of the Faith dates for what will become an annual event celebrating the best bands in "metaldom".
23 April Birmingham Academy (0870 771 2000)
24 April Glasgow Barrowlands (0870 169 0100)
25 April Manchester Academy (0870 771 2000)
26 April London Brixton Academy (0870 771 2000)
"Only those who define what it is to be state of the art metal in 2008 could ever be considered worthy to play under the Metal Hammer flag," our chums in the other office tell us. So co-headlining in this first year are Swedish metallers Opeth alongside their countrymen Arch Enemy. Completing the bill are bludgeoning US outfit Devildriver and retro metal upstarts 3 Inches of Blood. We've literally never heard of them, but if you have and would like to ROCK with them, you might like to call one of the box office numbers above.
If you haven't clicked away onto something SF-related by now feel free to head over to www.metalhammer.co.uk for more ROCK updates or click for the official flyer.
