Del Toro chats Mountains Of Madness
Guillermo still wants to climb ‘em...
While all the Guillermo del Toro attention has swung towards word that he’ll tackle The Hobbit, it seems that there’s still room in his fertile brain for another dream project that has been gestating far longer.
Talking to MTV News , the Hellboy director revealed that he still wants to adap HP Lovecraft’s Cthulhu-flavoured classic At the Mountains Of Madness. “I remember when I was a kid, out of the studios came the big event horror movies, The Exorcist, Alien, Jaws, The Shining,” he said. “It is my hope that this movie will be a tentpole of that sort. It has the scope of a Shackleton epic exploration movie but it’s full of tentacled things.” And let’s face it – is an epic really an epic if it isn’t full of tentacled things?
