Depp to replace Ledger?
Gilliam’s film looks for a new star…
Sweeney Todd star Johnny Depp could be in line to replace his friend Heath Ledger on Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, after the sudden death of the Oz actor last week.
The tragedy left Gilliam’s film in limbo, with Ledger having shot footage since December and another six weeks left to film. But now The Sun claims Depp has been hand-picked by Gilliam to step into the void, having previously dazzled in Gilliam’s Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas.
The idea, apparently, is that Ledger’s character would fall through a magic mirror and emerge as Depp. It’s fantasy, see?
Having wrapped Todd and with two projects on ice thanks to the writer’s strike , JD is no doubt keen to work with Gilliam – especially since The Man Who Killed Don Quixote fell apart for (roughly) the million-billionth time.
