Destiny: Rise of Iron expansion confirmed by ad and Bungie trademark filing
I wouldn't say Rise of Iron is Destiny's leakiest expansion yet, but it's getting there fast: Destiny streamer Gothalion has spotted an apparently premature Google advertisement pointing to the new expansion on Bungie's website. As you might imagine, the actual site doesn't say anything about Rise of Iron - in fact it's still displaying info for The Taken King, which was announced around this time last year, come to think of it...

It's important to note that Bungie didn't necessarily submit this advertisment itself. The Rise of Iron name surfaced weeks before, and it's possible that somebody else kicked some money toward a promoted Google search result just to fan the flames (if you've got enough money to prank advertise somebody else's unannounced product, please just wire it over to me instead). If the ad is legit, it confirms that the expansion will indeed add a fourth Raid to the game.
Taken together with a trademark registration for Rise of Iron apparently filed on May 31 by Bungie, as spotted by IGN, and the previous leaks, it's starting to look like more and more of a sure thing. Bungie plans to introduce Destiny's next expansion in a stream at 10 am PDT / 6 pm BST on Thursday, June 9, so the jig will be up soon either way.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
