Destiny wins Best Game at the 2015 video game BAFTAs

Destiny has won the British Academy Games Award for Best Game in 2015. Hardly surprising seeing as it was our Game of the Year 2014, but it's good to see Bungie's masterpiece getting the attention it deserves. It's also good to see the promise of a BAFTA didn't turn out to be a few Ascendant Shards when it was actually presented. This BAFTA is Bungie's fourth, having previously mopped up with its Halo series.

At the glitzy award ceremony held in London's Tobacco Dock, Far Cry 4 won the category for Best Music, while Alien: Isolation was also awarded an aural honour as it picked up the BAFTA for Audio Achievement. Monument Valley was named best British Game in 2015 and Valiant Hearts picked up the prize for best Original Property.

David Braben (pictured below, left) was awarded a fellowship for his "outstanding and exceptional creative contribution to the games industry". Having created the likes of Elite (and Elite: Dangerous), Zarch/Virus as well as being a trustee for the Raspberry Pi Foundation – Raspberry Pi being the credit card-sized computer 'designed to promote the study of computer science and related topics, especially at school level'. Typically humble, Braben said of his Fellowship: “It is an incredible honour. I have a truly great team behind me at Frontier, and without them I would not be receiving this, so the honour is effectively for all of us.”
