Destiny: Xur weapons, gear, and location September 25-27. Hawkmoon for all!
Destiny's magical space-Santa, Xur, has returned for the second time since The Taken King landed. Continuing his quest to fill out everyone’s year one Exotic list, he’s brought along another favourite for the purchasing, and this time, it’s extra-exciting for Xbox players, having previously been a PlayStation exclusive. This week he’s over in the Tower Hangar, just off to the right after you go down the main staircase.
As with last week, there are no brand new year two Exotics on sale, as the intent is that you’ll now get those from completing Quests and doing Strikes etc., thanks to The Taken King’s friendlier drop system. But all year one Exotics bought from Xur do come ready specced at year two levels, so no blueprint fiddling required. Here’s the full run-down:
- Ruin Wings (Exotic Titan Gauntlets) - 13 Strange Coins
- Sealed Ahamkara Grasps (Exotic Hunter Gauntlets) - 13 Strange Coins
- Light Beyond Nemesis (Exotic Warlock Helmet) - 13 Strange Coins
- Hawkmoon (Exotic Hand Cannon) – 23 Strange Coins
- Exotic Weapon Engram - 31 Strange Coins
- Three of Coins - 7 Strange Coins
So what’s good then? The Titan's Ruin Wings - aka. ‘the carnage gloves’ - are great for dealing out brute force trauma at a high rate, being that they increase the frequency and amount of Heavy ammo you’ll find, and convert melee attacks to extra grenade energy. Not subtle, but rather effective. The Hunter’s Sealed Ahamkara Grasps are a great bit of kit for increasing your medium-range momentum, given that they add an extra melee charge, meaning double throwing knives as standard if you’re using Gunslinger. Combine it with the Knife Juggler and Gambler’s Dagger perks, and you triple your chances of resetting your throwing knife cooldown with precision kills and can keeping the knife spree going indefinitely.
And the Warlock’s Light Beyond Nemesis is a hell of a tempting prospect if you’re a team player. Its rapid revives make it invaluable in tough Strikes and the Prison of Elders, and coupled with its increased Orb generation, make it a great Crucible asset. Those extra Orbs will also really help with some of The Taken King’s new Quests.
As for Hawkmoon, it’s hard to go wrong there. Although not too quick to fire, its impact is up there with a kick from an angry mule, and when fully upgraded you’ll get 33% bonus damage out of three bullets in every clip of 11. Also, if you’re an Xbox player, you’re a year behind on this one thanks to the gun’s year one PlayStation exclusivity, so get on it if you can afford it.
Don't forget that Xur is only around from now until 10am UK/2am Pacific on September 27, after which he's gone... until next week.
