The world of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is one steeped in chaos. The events from the previous game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, have left a scar on society's perception of those with augmentations, and people now live in fear. It might be difficult to imagine, seeing as how such augmented humans don't exist in the real world, but a new live-action trailer helps sell the idea of this "mechanical apartheid":
Publisher Square Enix and developer Eidos Montreal coined the term "mechanical apartheid" last summer, where it was met with … well, not everyone was a fan. I admit, I was skeptical that a game about a guy with giant razor blades in his robot arms could adequately tackle such a heavy subject, but this new trailer has done the best job so far of selling me on the idea of such a drastic scenario.
Hey, it might not have any gameplay footage, but the live-action footage certainly has all the feels.
