Diane Lane is the new Supermans Ma Kent
"She can convey wisdom and wonder"
Diane Lane has been cast as Martha Kent, the adoptive mother of Clark Kent, in Zack Snyder's Superman .
The Unfaithful actress is the first name to sign on to Snyder’s new Man of Steel movie, after Henry Cavill was confirmed as Supes himself.
For Snyder, the role was vital to get right. He said this in a statement:
“This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman.
“We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”
Other cast members currently eyeing the production include Kevin Costner (for Pa Kent) and Viggo Mortensen (for General Zod).
Meanwhile, Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike have all been shortlisted for a lead female role, rumoured to be villainess Ursa.
