Dimension nabs country-club comedy
First-time scribbler proves it’s who you know
Brandon Murphy was wiping tables and taking drinks orders a few months back in a tidy little watering hole in Arizona. Now the part-time scribbler can hang up his apron after Dimension Films got hold of his script Pony Bush.
The tale follows a loveable loser, Chucky ‘The Poodle’ Fife and his well-meaning buddy Honey Comb Love, who rock the rich and privileged when they start teaching the kids at Pony Bush Country Club that winning isn’t everything.
You’ll be surprised to know that Chucky is also in love with the club’s heiress and battles for her affection against her ruthless fiancé – who is only interested in snagging a slice of her fortune.
Broken Lizard, the comedic bunch behind Super Troopers are currently in negotiations with Dimension to produce the flick, which Murphy wrote between bar shifts. The scribe then slung it in the post to the ex-girlfriend of his college roommate, who happened to be employed by Hollywood talent honchos Benderspink. And the rest, as they say, is history…
