Disney confirms Toy Story 4 for 2017
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen expected to return
Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed to investors that Toy Story 4 is on the way, with the new film set to arrive in cinemas in 2017.
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are expected to return to voice Woody and Buzz for a fourth time, while John Lasseter is also in place to direct.
“We love these characters so much,” said Lasseter in an official statement. “They are like family to us. We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before.”
“ Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. But when Andrew [ Stanton ], Pete [ Doctor ], Lee [ Unkrich ] and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it.”
“It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie,” he concludes, “and I wanted to direct it myself.” Toy Story 4 will open in the US on 16 June 2017, with a UK date to be confirmed.
