Every Disney Infinity character
To infinity and beyond
Yes, you've been able to collect popular Disney characters like Wreck-It Ralph, Buzz Lightyear, and even Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey, but with Disney's acquisition of properties like Marvel and Star Wars, you can also collect cartoon versions of those heroes. In Disney Infinity 3.0, the sandbox builder/every-other-genre-you-can-think-of game continues to add some of those highly-desired, Disney-owned characters to the lineup: the heroes of Star Wars.
Which laser blasting, lightsaber wielding heroes can you add to your growing collection? Well, you're about to find out. We've scrounged up all of the newest releases and upcoming characters you can drop into your toybox. Check out the latest Star Wars characters, Marvel superheroes, and Disney characters on the following slides.
The Star Wars heroes join in Disney Infinity 3.0
Disney Infinity 3.0 brings the adventures of the galaxy far, far away to your toychest. Players can take on the role of the Clone War Jedi heroes like Anakin, Obi Wan, and Ahsoka in the Twilight of the Empire playset, or go old school and play as Luke, Leia, and Han in the Rise Against the Empire playset. Some of the most iconic battles and moments from the movies are playable in the Star Wars playsets, including the Battle of Hoth, the trench run on the Death Star, and the classic lightsaber duel against the Sith Lord Darth Maul.
The Force awakens with new heroes
Right with the release of the latest Star Wars film, Disney Infinity's The Force Awakens playset gives players a chance to experience the events of the movie with one of the four new hero characters. You can fight alongside an older Han Solo, pilot the Millennium Falcon through a Star Destroyer graveyard, and battle the New Order troops on planets like Jakku and in the depths of the Starkiller base. The playset brings a new group of figures to the game with Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren, sadly with no signs of a playable old Han Solo (yet). Hopefully the chances of ever getting a physical old Han figure isn't 3720 to 1.
Marvel Super Heroes join the Disney universe
In the Disney Infinity 2.0 edition, the Marvel Super Heroes are getting the spotlight. The first heroes on the scene will be the Avengers you know from the recent Marvel movies. Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye can all be used in the Avengers Playset as they battle Loki and his Ice Giant minions. But the Avengers aren't the only heroes available right off the bat. Spider-Man, Venom, Nova, Iron Fist, and Nick Fury have also joined together to fight the Green Goblin and his symbiote army's invasion of New York in the Spider-Man Playset when the game releases on September 23.
The Guardians of the Galaxy step up
It looks like Disney is being sure to include all of the Marvel heroes that have starred in the recent movies. Not only will the Avengers have their own toon-styled action figures, but the heroes of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy movie are getting the same treatment. Star-Lord, Rocket, Gamora, Groot, and Drax are all coming to the Disney Infinity 2.0 roster, and as you would expect, each character comes with their own set of unique abilities. Groot has stretchy, growing arms that let him attack enemies at any distance, Star-Lord has a variety of gadgets at his disposal along with his duel pistols, Gamora can clear rooms with her special blade attack, and Drax is an agile but brutal close-quarters combatant. Then there's Rocket who dual wields (relatively) massive blaster cannons in game and as a totally badass (yet adorable) real life action figure. The Guardians also come with their own Playset, set around a giant severed head floating in space.
Stitch, Tinker Bell, Merida and Maleficent added to the Toy Box
Just because developer Disney Interactive is adding a bunch of Marvel Heroes to Disney Infinity 2.0 doesn't mean they're ditching all of the other Disney characters. In fact, some classic characters like Peter Pan's sassy fairy Tinker Bell and evil sorceress Maleficent are joining the lineup along with Brave's Merida and the cuddly blue alien Stitch. These characters won't have a playset to call their own, but you can use them in any of your creations in the Toy Box 2.0 mode.
Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean)
Captain Jack is one of the characters included in the core Infinity package, and he brings his trademark drunken swashbuckling swagger as he shoots and stabs bad guys while hunting for treasure. He also comes with the Pirates of the Caribbean Play Set, which includes all manner of platforming and naval combat. The characters look has been modified somewhat to match the Infinity art style, but his roguish charm remains, even if its a touch more adorable.
Mr. Incredible (The Incredibles)
Mr. Incredible is also included in the Infinity box, and the illustrious leader of The Incredibles uses his super strength to bust down enemies and save the world from Syndrome yet again. His super-powered strength lets him smash the ground to send nearby enemies flying into the air, and you'll be able to take advantage of his superhuman agility to traverse the city in the Incredibles Play Set.
Sulley (Monsters University)
Sulley rounds out the core Infinity package as the final character players will have access to out of the box. As the series well known top-scarer, players will be able to use Sulleys signature ability to scare his enemies away to avoid facing them head-on, although with his shoulder-charge ability, thats certainly a possibility as well.
Mike Wazowski (Monsters University)
An optional addition to the Monsters University Play Set, the egghead protagonist of this years well-received Pixar film will join the cast of Infinity with a scare ability similar to his buddy Sulleys, but his small shape makes him much more agile than the lumbering blue beast that hell team up with in the game.
Mrs. Incredible (The Incredibles)
Mrs. Incredible is an optional figure to add on to the Incredibles Play Set, and true to her character in the movie, Mr. Incredibles beloved will display her Dhalsim-like stretching ability, giving her incredible range with which to vanquish the bad guys.
Violet (The Incredibles)
Another optional add-on to the Incredibles Play Set, fans of the film will be excited to see Violets signature invisibility and force-field abilities represented in Infinity. In the game, she even has the added ability to project her force-field energy in offense, making her an extremely powerful character.
Dash (The Incredibles)
The younger brother of the Incredibles family rounds out the cast of the Play Set as another optional add-on, and those familiar with the film will be happy to see his super-speed abilities be brought into the game world with a sprint maneuver as well as lightning-fast melee attacks, all of which make him a very formidable character.
Syndrome (The Incredibles)
The dejected supervillain of the Incredibles franchise turns up as an optional add-on to the Play Set, and in the game, his primary ability will be to telekinetically lift foes and toss them at other groups of enemies. Its a little odd that the character remains the primary antagonist in the missions even when youre playing as him, but that his abilities differ so greatly from those of the other cast members makes him an exciting addition.
The Lone Ranger (The Lone Ranger)
The masked hero of Disneys recent franchise revival returns in Infinity, and youll take control of him in the Lone Ranger Play Set to shoot down every bandit you come across in a setting very evocative of a far more wholesome and kid-friendly Red Dead Redemption.
Tonto (The Lone Ranger)
The second Johnny Depp character to be represented in Infinity, The Lone Rangers faithful sidekick brings his familiar brusque attitude and trusty throwing tomahawks to the Infinity package. Youll control him as he helps The Lone Ranger take out bandits in the dusty old west setting of the Play Set in a story that loosely follows that of the recent Box Office disappointment.
Barbossa (Pirates of the Caribbean)
The perennial antagonist-turned-ally of the Pirates franchise makes his appearance as a playable character in Infinity and can be used to help Jack Sparrow take on missions and engage in seafaring combat. On a gameplay level, he seems functionally identical to Sparrow, but hes a great alternative if you prefer his brand of hard-edged candor.
Davy Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean)
The perennial antagonist-turned-ally of the Pirates franchise makes his appearance as a playable character in Infinity and can be used to help Jack Sparrow take on missions and engage in seafaring combat. On a gameplay level, he seems functionally identical to Sparrow, but hes a great alternative if you prefer his brand of hard-edged candor.
Randy (Monsters University)
The slithery villain of the Monsters franchise returns as an optional playable character in the Monsters University Play Set. In the game, he differentiates himself by using his chameleon-esque cloaking ability to help him take on foes, and he also has the ability to scare enemies, similar to Sulley and Mike.
Lightning McQueen (Cars)
The intrepid hero of the Cars franchise is one of the two included in the Cars Play Set package, which stands out from the others as more of an open world racing game than the platforming beat-em-ups that make up the other playsets.
Mater (Cars)
Lightnings slow but sympathetic sidekick makes an appearance in the Cars playset as an optional addition, and if nothing else, he serves as yet another Larry the Cable Guy delivery mechanism if youre into that sort of thing. Everybody else will be happy to know that although the venerable comedian will be reprising his role in the game, he has very little voiceover to speak of.
Francesco (Cars)
The eccentric Italian open-wheel race car from Cars 2 also makes an appearance in the Play Set as an optional expansion character, and his smug, slimy personality from the film remains intact as he speeds around the city and helps Lightning and the others complete tasks.
Holley (Cars)
Holley is the second character included in the Cars Play Set package, and the deadly posh British spy/Jaguar XJR is equipped with a turbo maneuver that sends her rocketing across the sentient-car-populated city of radiator springs, foregoing her low-key, cloak-and-dagger persona for a more bombastic and speedy approach to her missions.
Woody (Toy Story)
On October 15th Woody will be joining the Infinity crew. The affable and sincere protagonist of Toy Story, Woody will hoot, holler, and ride Bullseye (a rideable mount in Infinity) from Andys Toy Room and beyond.
Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story)
The second of the Toy Story triad, Buzz Lightyear will be bringing all of his laser beams and falling-with-style to Infinity. His abilities and mannerisms take much from this most memorable moments from the films, so you can bet therell be some karate chop action in the mix of moves that Buzz brings to the table.
Jessie (Toy Story)
Rounding up the Toy Story characters comes Jessie, the kind hearted cowboy from Toy Story 2. Dont mistake her girlish nature for a fragile maiden, between her jumping stomp and her brawling, Jessie comes with enough wallop to rough it with the best of em.
Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Arriving on October 15th, just in time for Halloween, is one of the darker heroes of the Disney universe: Mr. Jack Skellington. Even though hes not from the Monsters University universe, the King of Halloween will have the ability to scare other characters in the game. And if you are able to unlock his second character chest, then the explosive Halloween Town Jack OLanterns are all yours to cause mayhem with.
Phineas Flynn
The first part of the curious duo, not much is known about Phineas other than that hell be released along with the second wave of figures coming out for Infinity. A cross between Jimmy Neutron and Timmy Turner, Phineas and his stepbrother Ferb will likely be yelling and running around the Infinity Universe, causing mischief with all of their homespun inventions.
Agent P (Phineas and Ferb)
Another character from the Phineas and Ferb Universe, Agent P will be joining the fray in the second wave of figures released. In the show, the no-nonsense ace platypus detective uses cunning tricks and gadgets to save the day, and heres hoping hell be bringing that to the game.
Ralph (Wreck-It Ralph)
Releasing on December 10th, the lovable Ralph will behave pretty much as you think he will. Think elephant: he can charge forward, pound the ground with his gigantic limbs, break objects in Infinity, and generally lumbers and jumps like the pachyderm.
Vanellope Von Schweetz (Wreck-It Ralph)
Venellope will be released along with her friend and hero Ralph on December 10th, and will be a fantastic counterpart to her bumbly companion. She maintains the quirky, eccentric mannerisms that were so loved in the movie, and is a speedy character to be feared both on and of the race track.
Rapunzel (Tangled)
December 10th will be a great day for Disney Infinity. Not only are Wreck-It-Ralph and Venellope joining, but Rapunzel is now being released with them. The strong and sassy protagonist of Disneys Tangled will be joined by two other objects from the movies universe: Maximus the rideable mount, and Rapunzels trusty frying pan as a wieldable object.
Anna (Frozen)
Scheduled to be released a week before her actual film gets released, Anna from Disneys new movie Frozen will be joining Infinity on November 19th. Of course, not much is known about the character, but she hails from a snowy universe full of treacherous ravines and avalanches, perhaps shell be bringing some of those survival skills to the game.
Elsa (Frozen)
The sister of Anna, in the movie Frozen Elsa The Snow Queen has banished herself to the mountains to atone for sending her kingdom into an eternal winter. Whether this means shell be bringing some of her ice magic to Infinity is yet to be decided, but regardless Elsa and all of her winter glory will be joining the cast with her sister on November 19th.
Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey (Fantasia)
In one of the most classic variations of Disneys Mascot, Mickey Mouse will be donning his sorcerers hat as he joins the Infinity crew in January. In Fantasia Mickey plays the bumbling yet sincere apprentice of Sorcerer Yen Sid, who after being left alone with powerful magic gets himself into a world of trouble. Perhaps hell be bringing some of that unbridled and accidental magic into the game...
Infinite possiblities
Of course, these characters are far from all that will eventually be released. Disney certainly plans to mine its vast wealth of properties to churn out dozens more playable characters for Infinity. Which franchises are you waiting to see represented in the game?
