Disney planning new live-action Beauty And The Beast
Twilight's Bill Condon will direct
Disney is planning to give one of its animated classics a live-action makeover, with the announcement that a new version of Beauty And The Beast is in the pipeline.
With Maleficent approaching the $200 million mark worldwide after just a week in cinemas, Disney is apparently keen to get its next fairytale project up and running as soon as possible.
Variety reports that Twilight: Breaking Dawn helmer Bill Condon will be the man to bring the new film to life, with a script to be written by Evan Spiliotopoulos.
Very little is known at this stage as to how Disney will approach the film, although if there isn't a big musical number performed by an anthropomorphised tea set, we'll be sorely disappointed.
The film has yet to receive a release date, but joins two other live-action versions of animated classics on the Disney roster, with Cinderella set to arrive in March 2015, followed by The Jungle Book in October.
