The final viewing figures for "Voyage of the Damned" are in (that's when they added in stuff like people who recorded it) and the result is – drum roll – 13.31 million. That made it the second most show TV show of the year after the Christmas Day episode of EastEnders.
This also gives it the eighth highest viewing figure in the show’s 45-year history. What makes this fact doubly more amazing is that not only are viewing figures generally much lower in this era of multi channel TV (in most of its olden days it only had two other channels to contend with), but that six of those episodes were aired when ITV was on strike in 1979, so there really wasn’t much else to watch.
Congratulations to the team in Cardiff. A fairytale end to a cracking year.
