Don't worry, Resident Evil 7 definitely has combat says producer

If all this found footage horror has you worrying that Resident Evil 7 isn't going to have anything other than running, hiding and breathing loudly, fear not, Capcom has confirmed that there will still be combat (along with a return to classic herbs in Resi 7 as well).

In an interview with Metro producer Masachika Kawata didn't give too many details but revealed that we'll still be able to defend ourselves, even if it's not quite the same as it was before.

"Combat is obviously something that’s really important in a Resident Evil game, we’re just kind of showing a little bit at a time with different aspects," he said. "So we’re taking it one step at a time here. Some people have got the impression that combat is missing from this game, because of the content we’ve shown so far, but actually combat is definitely in there. The main character is not one of these gun-toting heroes that we’ve sort of gone towards in the recent entries. It’s very much a normal person, a normal guy who’s put in an extreme situation and has to survive."

Kawata went on to say that they'll be revealing more as time goes on but they want to deliver the full Resi experience of puzzling, exploring, managing limited resources and combat in a terrifying situation. We'll hopefully find out more - and finally find out what Resi 7's dummy finger does - at the Tokyo Game Show next month.
