Dota 2 "The International" $1 million prize won by IG
Chump change
Valve's Dota 2 tournament "The International" concluded this weekend at PAX Prime in Seattle with the winners, Invictus Gaming, taking home a huge cash prize ofone million dollars.
Invictus Gaming of China faced off against team Natus Vincere of Ukraine in front of 2,500 spectators in person, and over 500,000 online. While Invictus came out on top on Sunday, Natus Vincere was probably still fairly happy with their weekend, as they also walked away with $250,000.
Held just down the street from the convention center at Benaroya Hall, The International attracted a huge audience both online and in person at the beautiful, almost operatic venue. The hall even features those fancy pants sky boxes like that one Abe Lincoln was assassinated in. Only instead of high society monocle-types, they were packed with gamers wearing graphic T's and packing swag bags.
Dota 2 is still currently in beta, and there is no definitive word on when it will officially launch. It's still listed as TBA 2012.
