Dr. Doom meets King Kong on Skull Island
Legendary has secured another supporting cast member for its monster prequel, with THR reporting that Toby Kebbell has booked his ticket to Kong: Skull Island. The specifics of his character are being kept under wraps for now, so we'll go ahead and assume that he's playing the titular simian.
Kebbell is well-versed in this type of ambitious blockbuster fare, having stolen the show in this summer's sub-par Fantastic Four reboot as Dr. Doom. His previous mo-cap work on Planet of the Apes and in Legendary's upcoming Warcraft movie no doubt put him on the radar for the part of Kong. Of course, this is all conjecture, but the history is there.
Elsewhere on Skull Island, Jordan Vogt-Roberts is taking up residence in the director's chair for a prequel tale about a group of explorers who venture to Kong's home turf. Jurassic World co-scribe Derek Connolly recently came aboard to do a quick script polish before cameras roll in Hawaii this October.
Co-starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and Corey Hawkins, Kong: Skull Island is eyeing up a March 10, 2017 release, which may also feature appearances from Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly. We'll keep you posted.
