Armor Upgrades
Heirloom Amell Protective Sigils
Fereldan Gilded Plating
Both of Bethany and Carver’s only piece of armor upgrade is available through the “Birthright” mission near the beginning of Act 1.The items can be located in a chest in the final room.

Tobrius’s Document
When you are doing the “Birthright” mission, be sure to look in the chest in the store room to find the items depending on which character you are playing with.

Inscribed Leather Harness
You can nab this first armor upgrade by visiting the Apparel Shop in Lowtown during Act 1
Silverite-Reinforced Buckles
Found in a chest during the “Family Matters” quest in which you go and visit Bartrand’s estate during Act 2.
Coat Lining With Concealed Pockets
This can be found at the Shady Merchandise Shop in the Docks District during Act 2.
Drakeskin Leg Straps
This one a little trickier to get as you need to have imported a save game that included DA: Awakenings. You also need to have recruited Nathaniel and had him not die during the siege on Vigil’s Keep.If you didn’t import a save, then you needed to choose the “Martyr” history when you created your DA 2 game. If you meet these conditions, then Varric’s last piece of armor can be found by doing the “Finding Nathaniel” mission in Act 3.

This one and only gift for Varric can be found at the Trinkets Emporium shop during Act 2, in Lowtown.
Isabela
Armor Upgrades
Lambswool Insoles
Her first piece is not until Act 2. It can be found during the “To Catch a Thief” mission in a chest when exploring the Lost-End Foundry.
Rigid Boning
Hehehe Rigid Boning. Ahem.Anyways, this piece can be found in the Hightown Apparel Shop in Act 2.
Supportive Corselet
This piece can also be found in Hightown at the Robes by Jean Luc shop in Act 2.
Boiled Leather Plates
During Act 3, this final piece can be picked up only during the “Murder of Crows” mission, but you will only get this mission if your imported game file still has Zevran still alive. Look for the armor piece inside a pile of bones while travelling through the Mountain Cave and after fighting a swarm of spiders.

During “Blackpowder Courtesy,” you will find this gift in a chest near the North exit in Smuggler’s Cut.
Rivaini Talisman
Head to the Disused Passage at the Docks during Act 3 and you will find this final gift for Isabela.
