Dwayne Johnson confirms he will play either Shazam or Black Adam
Will definitely be joining DC project
Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that he will be taking the lead in a major DC movie, with the star in line to play either Shazam or Black Adam.
Warner recently confirmed the Shazam movie for a 2016 release date, but as yet, it remains unclear whether Johnson will be playing the titular hero or his arch nemesis.
For non-aficionados of the comics, Shazam is an orphaned boy, capable of transforming into an adult superhero, simply by saying the word “Shazam”.
Black Adam, on the other hand, is a magically-powered warrior with designs on world domination. Needless to say, the two don’t exactly get along.
Johnson told USA Today that, “I am putting my heart and soul and my bones into this role,” and while he has yet to reveal which character he will be playing, he has previously described Black Adam as one of his favourite DC characters…
Shazam will open in the US in July 2016, with a specific release date yet to be confirmed.
