E3 2010: Nintendo Press Conference data-splode

• Then came a closer look and more details on the 3DS. We've now played the handheld, and will have full impressions soon, but here's what you need to know now. No glasses are necessary. It's as small as the DS Lite and possibly smaller – weighing only eight ounces. The graphics are surprisingly similar to those on the Wii. It has an inner camera like the DSi, and also two outer cameras that can snap photographs in 3D. It will display movies in 3D. It has a Slide Pad that can adjust the level of 3D, as well as a motion sensor and Gyrosensor. It can communicate with other DSs and download stuff like new stages, new quests, ghost data and rankings with no monthly fee.

• All those Wii surprises not enough for you? Here come the DS surprises. After years of anticipation and speculation, a new Kid Icarus was revealed for 3DS. It's subtitled Uprising and features plenty of air combat in which, according to Nintendo, you'll be able to sense exactly how close and far away enemies really are. "Coming soon."

• Fans of the classic GBA RPG series, Golden Sun have also got reason to celebrate as Nintendo showed the first gameplay video of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, which has adopted3D character models. It's been a long time since Nintendo's mentioned Golden Sun, and we're glad to have it back.

• And finally, a deluge of 3DS teases and hints. Miyamoto is working on Nintendogs ("+Cats"). Outside developers are busy bringing their own famous franchises to the 3D system: Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Madden, Assassins Creed, Kingdom Hearts,Ridge Racer, Saints Row and Batman. The show ended with a humorous movie in which Miyamoto and Iwata were sucked into a 3DS and Reggie had to find them. Within that joke video were further visual hints that everything from Mario and Zelda to Donkey Kong and Star Fox could be headed to 3DS, too.

• Nintendo also revealed even more info on their official press sitefor upcoming games: Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Miniland Mayhem and Pokemon Ranger: Gaurdian Signs all for DS and PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure for, obviously, Wii.
