E3 2011: UFC Live slams Xbox 360
Microsoft partners with UFC to bring pay-per-views to console
Ultimate Fighting Championship honcho Dana White took the stage at Microsoft's presser today to announce a new service for Xbox Live, enabling you to order pay-per-view events and a slew of other features.
A teaser video demonstrated how you can order a new pay-per-view and then on the fly, choose to watch pre-fight weigh-ins for the event or the montage vignettes that build up the fights. As Georges St. Pierre walked down the isle in the video, a menu enabled you to watch selected past fights from the Welterweight champion's history. Pretty sweet stuff considering you can do this while streaming the live fights.
Finally, there's an option to place wagers on the fight; choosing between knockout, submission and decision. At the end of the fight, you'll be awarded points based on your wager and how you fared against the rest of your friend's wagers. No idea what the points mean or what reward system there is yet.
No cost was announced or release date. Stay tuned for more info.
