The 3DS isn't available in stores yet, but the system has already been graced with its first game cancellation from a major publisher. EA has put the kibosh on its 3D horticultural simulator, My Garden.
EA was able to make some cool promotional shots, but apparently not a cool game. Once upon a time, My Garden was supposed to be a launch game for the 3DS, but based on some early previews, it appeared that EA was just shoveling out launch-day-sales bait. The game was criticized as boring, unimaginative, and worst of all, headache inducing.
In the game, players would have found plants and gathered wildlife of all kinds as they tried to make the best virtual garden possible. There didn't seem to be much of a game beyond that.
EA explained in a statement, "We didn't feel the title would attract a large audience on that platform. EA is supporting the launch of the Nintendo 3DS with spring releases of Madden NFL and The Sims."
We're glad EA had the sense to cancel it. Or maybe it had problems getting Nintendo to approve it. We have no idea. Nevertheless, there will be other, good launch games for you to get your glasses-free 3D fill next month. Go with those.
