Eddie Murphy in talks to join Richard Pryor biopic
Eddie Murphy could be about to make a long-overdue return to drama, with the star reportedly in talks to star in Lee Daniels’ Richard Pryor biopic.
According to ET, Murphy is in discussions to play the famous comedian’s father, former boxer LeRoy “Buck Carter” Pryor.
Mike Epps was recently cast in the title role, while the report also goes on to claim that Kate Hudson is in line to play Pryor’s wife, Jennifer.
Murphy hasn’t starred in a high-profile drama since Dreamgirls back in 2006, having largely confined his big-screen appearances to the arena of comedy. Should he sign on the dotted line, it will be interesting to see how he readjusts to more serious-minded material…
Daniels appeared to hint at the casting by posting a picture with Murphy on Instagram,so don’t be surprised to see this one confirmed sooner rather than later. No release date has been announced at this stage.
