Eli Roth and Ti West teaming up for The Sacrament
Roth will produce while West directs
Exciting news for horror fans this afternoon, as Eli Roth has revealed he will be producing the next offering from chiller specialist Ti West, a new film called The Sacrament .
West has quietly set about building a formidable reputation among horror aficionados with slow-building exercises in terror such as The House Of The Devil and The Innkeepers . He also recently contributed to the much-talked-about horror anthology, V/H/S .
West has written the script for The Sacrament , and will be stationed behind the camera as well, while Roth will serve in a production capacity. And according to the Cabin Fever director, he has a very clear objective of what he wants to achieve in the position.
"We want to make this Ti’s first mainstream movie, without sacrificing the quality and unflinching horror of the subject matter," says Roth. This would suggest that his involvement will largely be designed to drum up mainstream attention in the project, rather than introducing his own gore-soaked style to proceedings.
In any case, it's exciting to see West receive the opportunity to reach a wider audience, and any director keen to extol the value of tension, suggestion and patience in horror movies is alright by us. The Sacrament will begin shooting later this month, with a release date to be confirmed.
