Emma Stone in talks to headline Crimson Peak
In line for Guillermo del Toro’s ghost story
Back at the end of last year we heard news that Guillermo del Toro’s next project would be haunted house movie Crimson Peak , and now it seems that the casting process has begun, with del Toro having isolated a potential candidate for his leading lady.
Variety is reporting that Emma Stone is in early negotiations with Legendary Pictures to star in the film, which would be her first foray into the world of horror, taking aside her appearance in the more comedy-minded Zombieland .
As to who she will be playing, we haven’t a clue, although del Toro has provided a loose outline of what we can expect from Crimson Peak .
“It’s a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story,” he explains. “It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.”
In the meantime, Del Toro’s next project to arrive in cinemas will be grand-scale sci-fi epic Pacific Rim , which lands in the UK on 12 July 2013.
