Emma Watson responds to 50 Shades rumours
“Like, really?”
Ever since the 50 Shades Of Grey series started selling by the lorry-load, speculation has been rife as to who might play the leading roles in a potential movie adaptation.
One of the names frequently attached to the part of sexual naïf turned BDSM fetishist Anastasia Steele is Emma Watson, a turn of events that the actress herself seemingly finds baffling.
“Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades Of Grey as a movie?” said Watson via Twitter. “Like really. For real. In real life.”
Which kind of makes sense, given that Watson is already an established star and has absolutely no need to get her kit off for a frothy big-screen version of a book that hasn't exactly been celebrated for rounded characters and nuanced plotting.
“I haven’t read the book, I haven’t a read a script, nothing,” said Watson to Entertainment Weekly on an earlier occasion. “There are so many movies you become attached to when I’ve literally never even received a phone call. It was the same way with T he Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - I never even saw a script!”
Sounds like its back to the drawing board with those casting rumours, then. We wonder if anyone's actually going to take this role…
