Not going to the Kapow! event in London? Then consider the Sci-Fi, Comic and Fantasy Art Extravaganza in SFX 's home town
A crack squad from SFX will be storming Kapow! in London this weekend but if you're not seeing them there, why not consider this more sedate affair in Bath?
The Masonic Hall (the original Theatre Royal at 12 Old Orchard St , BA1 1JU) is hosting its first Sci-Fi, Comic And Fantasy Art Extravaganza .
Guest of Honour is illustrator Jim Burns , a friend of SFX who you may have seen at the last Weekender . He won the Hugo award for best professional artist three times and has been awarded 12 BSFA awards ; he also worked briefly with Ridley Scott on Bladerunner .
Other artists in attendance include illustrator Graham Humphreys (Hammer, Doctor Who , Nightmare On Elm Street ); Andy Bigwood, twice winner of the Sci-fi Illustrators Award; artist and illustrator Steve Upham; digital concept artist James Ledger; comic and fantasy artist Jennie Gyllblad; and fantasy artists John Nankivel and Andy York.
The exhibition will also feature the steampunk sculptures of Sam Goddard and Michael Henderson.
As well as offering the opportunity to meet these fantastic artists there will be demonstrations and original art for sale. Entry is free. It runs at The Masonic Hall on Saturday 19 May and Sunday 20 May 2012 from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
