ER's Ming-Na Wen Joins Joss Whedon's SHIELD Cast
She will play Agent Melinda May in the TV series, joining Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson
Former ER actress, one-time Chun-Li and voice of Mulan Ming-Na Wen has joined the pilot for the Joss Whedon -developed Marvel's SHIELD TV series.
According to Deadline , Wen will play Agent Melinda May, described as, “soulful and slightly damaged by her combat experiences… an ace pilot, a weapons expert and a soldier who can – and has – gone beyond the call of duty.”
Wen joins actor Clark Gregg who will be reprising his role as Agent Phil Coulson, although details of how have not yet been revealed (resurrection? It’s a prequel? He‘s a hologram?).
Joss Whedon has co-written the pilot with his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, and is expected to direct.
Marvel's SHIELD will be executive produced by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb.
