Ethan Hawke joining Colin Farrell in Total Recall remake
He's up for a mystery cameo
Ethan Hawke has joined Colin Farrell in the remake of 1990’s Total Recall.
Based on a short story by Philip K. Dick, the original film followed a man who, yearning to travel to Mars but unable to afford it, buys a memory implant from a company called Rekall Inc.
Problems ensue when he begins to believe he is actually a real secret agent sent to a Martian colony.
Picked up by Columbia Pictures in 2009, this version will ditch the alien storyline, focusing instead on Douglas Quaid (Farrell) as a factory worker who believes he is a spy for nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, although he doesn't know where his loyalties lie.
It's not known what part Hawke has bagged yet as his cameo role is being kept a secret. The Gattaca actor has recently just finished shooting a Fox studios pilot called Exit Strategy .
Both Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale are reportedly in negotiations for the female leads.
