Eva Green announces BAFTA Rising Stars

Eva Green has announced this year’s BAFTA's Orange Rising Star Award nominees. Which is fair enough, as she was the last person to win it.

The award recognises five international actors and actresses who have demonstrated exceptional talent and have begun to capture the imagination of the public as a star in the making. This year's nominees are: Shia LeBeouf, Sienna Miller, Ellen Page, Sam Riley and Tang Wei.

Green said: "I was delighted to receive the award last year, winning was a huge surprise. The nominees I was up against would all have been worthy winners of the award so I was thrilled when the public voted me as The Orange Rising Star. This year’s five nominees are all actors who have really stood out in their work and I’m sure we’ll see a lot more of them throughout 2008."

The Award is voted for by the British public, who can have their say via the Orange website orange.co.uk/bafta; or text message using the following numbers:

Shia LeBeouf: ORSA SHIA to 82058
Sienna Miller: ORSA SIENNA to 82058
Ellen Page: ORSA ELLEN to 82058
Sam Riley: ORSA SAM to 82058
Tang Wei: ORSA TANG to 82058

We'd like to see the great British public get behind Sam Riley or Sienna Miller for patriotism's sake, but we imagine Shia LeBeouf will get the gong. And, judging by what he's got on his slate in 2008, that's probably fair enough.

The winner will be announced at the Orange British Academy Film Awards on Sunday 10 February 2008.
