Everquest 2's ninth expansion coming in November
See you in the afterlife
Though it's hard to believe, once upon a time in a faraway land called "2004," EverQuest 2 was a serious competitor of World of Warcraft. Though, of course, we all know how that competition went. WoW became the most successful subscription MMO of all-time and EQ2 became a relatively forgotten cult hit.
However, the game has kept chugging along, appealing to a small-yet-significant portion of the gaming industry, and now they're gearing up to release their ninth expansion pack which will be releasing in November later this year.
It's called Chains of Eternity and will take place in Ethernere, the EQ version of the afterlife. It'll feature a level cap increase, new quests and prestige abilities and other things SOE isn't yet talking about.
Will this finally be the content expansion that puts EQ2 back on top of WoW!? No, absolutely not. But it's always good to see companies supporting games and communities even if they're not bringing in billions.
