Ewan McGregor is Jesus in first image from Last Days In The Desert
The first image has arrived online from Biblical drama, Last Days In The Desert, featuring our first look at Ewan McGregor as Jesus.
The new film will focus upon "an imagined chapter" from Jesus's forty days and nights in the desert, as he finds himself confronted by the Devil himself (also played by McGregor).
As he makes his way out of the wilderness, Jesus and the Devil become locked in a deadly struggle over the fate of a family in crisis, a test every bit as punishing as his forty days of fasting.
The first image gives a good impression of the film's stark visual aesthetic, although we'd be more intrigued to see what McGregor's version of the Devil is going to look like, rather than this fairly conventional Jesus.
Directed by Rodrigo Garcia and co-starring Tye Sheridan, Ciarán Hinds, and Ayelet Zurer, Last Days In The Desert will open in the UK and US in 2015, with an exact date to be confirmed.
