Ewan McGregor the new favourite to play Doctor Strange?
Latest star to be linked to Marvel project
Another day, another Doctor Strange rumour, with Ewan McGregor the latest big name to be linked to the title role in the forthcoming Marvel project.
Ever since Joaquin Phoenix dropped out of negotiations to play the titular sorcerer, the rumour mill has been abuzz with potential candidates to replace him, with Badass Digest mooting McGregor as the latest contender.
According to the report, Marvel are “looking at” McGregor, with the actor thought to be doing his homework on the character ahead of any potential casting.
McGregor is one of several major names to be linked to the role in recent weeks, with Keanu Reeves and Ethan Hawke also thought to be among the frontrunners.
Scott Derrickson will be helming the film, one of the key titles in Marvel’s Phase 3 portfolio, with Doctor Strange set to open in the US on 8 July 2016. A UK date has yet to be confirmed.
