It takes a very special character to hold their own against tech-suited playboys, Norse storm gods, lethal uber-assassins and, yes, enormous green rage monsters. Face it, that’s the kind of camera-hogging company even Tom Cruise would think twice about sharing screen time with…
This year’s Marvel blockbuster Avengers: Age Of Ultron delivered just such a character. The Vision has been a cornerstone of the superteam for decades now – he first appeared in The Avengers issue 57, way back in 1968, in fact. The soul-searching synthezoid finally made the big screen in the form of Paul Bettany, upgraded to main player status after voicing cyber-butler JARVIS in the Iron Man movies.
Here’s an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse at the inscrutable Avenger’s cinematic incarnation, including contributions from Joss Whedon, Robert Downey Jr and Bettany himself – the only man who could play the Vision, Joss tells us. It’s one of a number of bonus features you’ll find on the Avengers: Age Of Ultron Blu-ray.
The movie is available on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD from Monday 14 September. © 2014 Marvel.
