Exclusive: Awesome IMAX poster for Guillermo del Toros Pacific Rim
Gorgeous comic-book style artwork
Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim is one of our most anticipated blockbusters of summer 2013, and our excitement levels have hit a new peak with the release of an exclusive IMAX poster, which you can see below.
The sci-fi spectacular sees del Toro paying homage to the monster and mecha movies he grew up fascinated with. Earth is beset by attacks from huge alien beasties that have emerged from the sea (that’ll be the Kaiju), and human beings make a stand by building giant robots (better known as Jaegers) to lead the fight back.
The poster is part of the IMAX FANFIX series, and a print will be handed out to everyone who attends a showing of Pacific Rim in IMAX 3D on opening weekend (while supplies last).
Guillermo del Toro said of the artwork, “I am thrilled to introduce Sergio Grisanti to the world. For years he has been a highly respected commercial artist. When I was first exposed to his art for Pacific Rim I knew instantly that he was a powerhouse of talent. He created the Jaeger posters/card art we used at Wondercon. Without any hesitation I asked him to create this new IMAX FANFIX art. Look at it closely - with a magnifying glass! So much going on! Such power! Such beauty! Sergio loves his Kaijus and his Mecha, and it shows. The poster, like my film, is a tribute to well-loved things. I wish all the fans the best time at the first IMAX screenings of Pacific Rim . Enjoy!”
